Course looking at ten key topics for carbon savers - free spaces available! Making a plan to reduce your individual carbon footprint may be daunting until you understand what is involved. Carbon Savvy has simplified the important facts and explained these clearly in a series of ten topics which feature in the ‘bite-size’ training sessions of the new Carbon Savers Course. This is an excellent way for groups to learn together about how they can gradually reduce their carbon footprints in easy steps. Group Leaders subscribe on behalf of their group to obtain the log-in code so that they can download the course materials from an online platform and use them as many times as they want and at a time and place that suits them. Community groups, parish councils, businesses, educational and training establishments will find this useful if they want to inform and inspire their members/employees/students or customers to take action for the environment and nature. This course looks at 10 key topics for carbon savers in easy-to-understand 15 minute video-recordings, which come with accompanying materials (topic handout, poster to advertise the next topic meeting, topic feature for your parish or club newsletter). See samples in ‘additional files’ on this page. There is also an on-line forum for the group leader to post questions to Carbon Savvy from their groups. Sustainable South Hams has 50 free subscriptions to give away to community groups that have added their group to our Sustainability Map or Parish Councils which have updated their Parish information on the Sustainability Map. (please add a link for parish updates). This has been funded by South Hams District Council’s Climate and Biodiversity Emergency Committee. Bigbury Net Zero will be running its Carbon Savers Course once a month at The Memorial Hall in St Ann’s Chapel as part of their monthly Carbon Savers Club one-hour meeting (first Wednesday of every month 7.00 to 8.00 pm). BNZ will show the 15-minute video at the beginning of their one-hour Carbon Savers Club meeting to get the discussions going. BNZ will also utilise the ideas and exercises on similar topics in the Transition Streets Handbook to help develop the discussions and action planning stimulated by the monthly video in the Carbon Savers Course. Come along and see how the course materials work together so you can start your own Carbon Savers Club or just show the Carbon Savers videos to your group. Contact louise@sussh.org for more information. If you have any questions please come to the Sustainable South Hams Monthly Group Leaders Gathering at Heron Valley Cafe, Loddiswell on the second Wednesday of every month 10.30 to midday.
