Spotlight on Thermal Imaging
January’s Change Makers gathering will offer sustainability group leaders space to discuss using thermal imaging cameras as a tool in their community. We spoke with Dan Parnell, who has been using a thermal imaging camera with Sustainable South Brent (SSB) and will be speaking at the gathering, to get some insight in advance.
Make Your Voice Heard: South Hams Climate & Nature Strategy
In October, Sustainable South Hams hosted a discussion with representatives from South Hams District Council to discuss the new Corporate Strategy for Climate and Nature. We're encouraging you and your group to have your say - the official deadline was the 30th November, but we have been assured that the council will still take your prompt replies into consideration. Read on for some specific highlights and guidance for your response, including a letter kindly provided by Sustainable South Brent.
Key Conversations at 'Keep It Local'
Around forty relevant local food producers, distributors, software specialists and marketeers attended the Keep It Local Symposium on Friday 10th November at Follaton House in Totnes. They were invited by South Hams District Council to the event, facilitated by SusSH, with the intention of bringing together expertise and experience around the challenges of selling locally and the potential solutions.
Exciting Plans for Our Upcoming Assembly!
As we work to develop next year’s Assembly, focussing on Young People and Education, we’ve been learning from some wonderful exemplar projects. This month, a group from Sustainable South Hams visited the Harbour House Gallery in Kingsbridge to view the amazing exhibition by their young curators and to find out more about co-creating with young people from Dr Beth Richards, who headed up the project.
Get Involved with our Composting Pilot Series
Building on June’s conversation around Scaling Earth Resources, the November Change Makers’ Meeting introduced a series of community composting projects currently in development by Sustainable South Hams, in partnership with Devon Community Composting Network and South Hams District Council.
