Confused about the finer details of creating and developing your local community group? Join us for a workshop offering expert support and top tips on how to get your community group set up properly or take it to its next level, from finances to action plans, group structure to measuring success.

Whether you’re just getting started or well on your way, this will be a wonderful opportunity to make sure your group is effective and enjoyable!

Hosted by Sustainable South Hams & organised by Community Action Groups Devon (CAG), Devon County Council & Kingsbridge Climate Action, the workshop will be an extension of our usual monthly Group Leaders’ Gathering, taking place at South Brent Village Hall on Wednesday 12th July, 10am - 2.30pm.

You will be able to choose one of two sessions in both the morning and afternoon slots.

Following introductions, the morning workshops will be:

Starting a Group: This session will be an introduction to "getting your ducks in a row” as you get your new group off the ground, looking at the key elements of a constitution, considering banking needs, risk assessments, insurance, and steps towards progress

OR

Legal Structures: Choosing what structure is right for your group taking the next step (including whether or not to work towards charitable status)

Lunchtime will offer the opportunity to visit the South Brent Sustainability Hub and Community Fridge, so you can take inspiration, and then the afternoon sessions will be:

Developing Your Group: Specifics of projects, employing people, taking on leases, measuring success and more

OR

Collective Vision & Action Plan: This session will be an introduction to getting alignment around your vision and strategy, including understanding what a vision is, the value of context, and the basics of creating a strategy

The day will end with a short feedback and wrap up session.

We would love to have representatives of several groups or potential groups from across the region and to make sure that each group takes away as much as possible, so would strongly recommend at least two from each group sign up.

Booking for this event is essential (you will be able to select your workshop choices during booking) and tickets are available at three price points, including a free option. Please bring your own lunch. BOOK NOW HERE
