Create Climate & Nature Lending Library

Bigbury Net Zero was bestowed the use of the redundant telephone box outside the village shop in St Ann's Chapel as a lending library for books on climate and nature. It was opened by local author of Go Toxic Free, Anna Turns, and the glass panels were decorated by local people. The initiative was publicised in the Kingsbridge & Salcombe Gazette.

Key objectives

To provide an attractive focal information point for Bigbury Net Zero, in the heart of the village, outside the village shop, by re-purposing an otherwise redundant piece of street architecture. A notice board inside and a QR Code on the outside lead people to our website for mire information about our activities. Easily replicable across South Hams.

Key learnings

Owners of redundant telephone boxes are keen to find a way of repurposing them for the benefit of the community.
