Support a thriving population of a re-introduced species

Between late summer 2023 and late summer 2025, the Gara Water Vole Reintroduction Project will be reintroducing the water vole to the River Gara in the South Hams. This will take place through four reintroduction events on four different sites. The species is classified as endangered and by 2020 was considered functionally extinct in Devon and Cornwall. A group of local residents from Sustainable Dittisham and Sustainable Blackawton are working with Begin By Starting to try to turn this fabulous project into reality.
