Sustainable South Hams is looking for communities from across the South Hams to be part of an exciting pilot programme.
The aim of the project is to support communities to become better connected and more collaborative, so they can take more effective action for climate and nature.
Work with us if you want to:
- Bring people together to form an active network for climate and nature
- Collaborate with your local school to support the next generation
- Align your community around a shared vision
- Explore steps to action and connect with experts
- Find support around funding
- To be an active part of the pilot testing a region wide rally for nature
We provide:
- A facilitated process
- Signposting to projects, ideas, and resources
- Introductions to mentors, experts and partners to support action
- Help with funding
What could the programme include for your community?
The programme will be co-created with each group to reflect the needs of each individual community, but will be lightly facilitated by Sustainable South Hams. The content of the programme will be flexible but may include some of the following elements.
CONNECT: Find the key stakeholders in your community as well as the hidden voices. Form a network and learn how to engage widely.
UPSKILL: Learn together about climate change, carbon reduction, and nature recovery.
VISION: Create a shared community vision for a brighter future through listening.
INSPIRE: Explore inspiring projects and success stories from across the region.
ACT: Develop action plans for climate and nature projects in your community. Explore useful resources and connect with mentors that will support you to take your first steps.
REVIEW: Evaluate your progress and receive support with your next steps. Connect with other communities taking action and learn from each other at a network symposium.
If you are a member of a community group, a parish councillor, a tree warden, a school sustainability lead or anyone within your community with an interest in climate and nature and a desire to work more collaboratively with other changemakers in your parish - we want to hear from you!
