Compost

Street Compost Club is a new project that brings neighbours together to collectively create compost from their food waste in a fun, practical and hygienic way, which can then be used in their gardens and planters to grow more food and flowers.

Sustainable South Hams hosted a deep dive into community composting at a recent two-day long masterclass held in South Brent. 

The addition of compost builds a healthy soil and so boosts the microbial activity, which provides food for hundreds of thousands of different species of fungi, bacteria and other organisms; these microorganisms are also food for a whole range of other organisms, which in turn are fed off by predators.
